At Lake of the Woods Photographers, we use a system of pricing for prints called Unit Pricing. The Unit Pricing system was devised to put flexibility and control in your hands. It allows for purchasing of prints in whatever combination and quantity of sizes you wish, without the constraints of packages. Packages are nice for photographers, but they may not meet the customer's individual needs.
With the Unit Pricing system, a flat rate is charged per unit. A unit is the equivalent of an 8" x 10" piece of paper. A single unit may be divided up, or "mapped" any number of ways, including but not limited to one 8" x 10" print, two 5" x 7" prints, four 4" x 5" prints, or 8 wallet-sized prints. See unit size examples right.
When it comes time to place your print order, we simply calculate the number of units needed to fill the order and you are charged per unit. If you order four 8" x 10" portraits, you will be charged for four units. If you order 32 wallet-sized portraits, that's still four units. You decide what you need, and we map it out using as few units as possible to fill your order. There is no waste, and you know exactly what it will cost as you plan what size and number of prints you will need.
A separate one time session fee is charged for portrait creation.
